«Sometimes, just an ear is important. Certainly I needed that, I needed people to encourage me when I was going through my teenage sort of. Which really wasn’t very exciting, but there were times when it was pretty close for me. And there were certain people who put their hand in and said ‘You know what, Tommy, you’re pretty good at this’ and encouraged me. I certainly wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for a couple of teachers and people from the local neighbourhood who thought I was worth a little more than what I was doing to myself.»
